Luke is a senior in high school and just has to finish calculus and Isaac is still working on chemistry, but they are both almost done! Today I wanted to post a new square mood storyboard set. This set has clipping masks, so just add your images using the clipping masks (with the free action included in the download). To grab colors from your images, double-click on each "mood" square to open up the color picker and then click on a color in your image to grab it. This is a great way to get an inspired color palette. You can print or post these photo storyboards.

CoffeeShop "Square Mood Boards" Photo Template Set #4

It is finally Friday! Today I wanted to share a new set of square Photoshop/PSE storyboard. These photo templates can be printed or posted on the web and have clipping masks to add your images. You can easily change the background and frame color. 

To add colors to the color mood strips, double-click on each "mood color strip" layer which automatically selects the eye dropper tool. Then click on any image in your template to "grab" that color. This is a great way to get color inspiration from photos.

CoffeeShop "My Valentine" Photoshop/PSE Photo Template!

Happy Friday! Today for the first time in over a week we see the sun. It is cold but beautiful out there, so we hope to play some pickleball (stupid name, great sport) after lunch. Hoping we can get a court, we only have two in our town and apparently everyone and their grandmother plays pickle-ball. Have you fallen into the pickle-ball-craze yet?

Today I have a new Photoshop/PSE photo template to share with you. You can add single photos or digital papers to each letter using the clipping masks, or turn on the "Valentine" layer and add one photo or paper to cover the entire thing. This is a high-resolution storyboard so you can print it as well as post it on the web.  

I used the font "Beth Ellen" for "You are my". What a great free font, I love it!

CoffeeShop "Heart Pieces" Photoshop/PSE Photo Template!

Valentine's Day is getting close so I wanted to post a few new storyboards that I designed with that holiday in mind. This heart storyboard has clipping masks, making it simple to add your images in Photoshop/PSE. This photo template can be printed or posted on the web. Feel free to add photos or pretty papers/designs to create your own custom art!

I also included a free little action called "Load It" to make it go even faster. Just click-to-select one of the clipping masks, start the action, and it will prompt you to open your image and then it will place it on top. Resize the image to fit and then click Enter/Return and repeat to add additional images to the template.

CoffeeShop "Square Mood" Photo Storyboard Set!

I wanted to share this new Photoshop/PSE mood storyboard set I made this morning. This set is perfect when you want to create a custom color palette or highlight your favorite colors in an image. I really love fall colors, so I find myself using these templates quite often this time of year.

Easily add your images using the clipping masks. And to select colors from your images in the circles, just double-click each circle and then click on a color in one of your images to grab it.

These storyboards can be printed or posted on social media. Note: If you want to make them bigger, resize BEFORE loading your images.

CoffeeShop "Angelique" Photo Template/WebBoard!

I have so many new photo templates that I need to post and naming them all is impossible. I try to think of something clever, but that usually fails. For example, one of my storyboards is called "Big Circle", which is literally a big circle template. 

I am reminded of my boys when they were young. They collected penguin stuffed animals and they always named them something practical like "Black & White", or "Penguin Little". 

Naming my freebies is the most boring part of my designing, so I have decided to make it easier on myself and just start a series of simple storyboards and name them people's names, starting with "A". So today we have Angelique.

This Photoshop/PSE storyboard is 12 by 12 and can be printed or posted on the web. You add your images using the clipping mask.  I used a font called CarbonType for the text.

CoffeeShop Photoshop/PSE Tutorial" "Autumn Pumpkin Card"!

It has been ages since I posted a design Photoshop/PSE tutorial. I write tutorials for the Graphics Fairy but haven't taken the time to add more tutorials here. Well, today I was inspired to post a fall-inspired card design tutorial!

In this tutorial I show you how I made the painted pumpkins (included in the download below) and then use them along with one of my Orange Morris textures and a daguerreotype texture to create a pretty 5 by 5 greeting card.

Create a Autumn Pumpkin Card in Photoshop/PSE:

1. Download this free pumpkin image.

Use your favorite method to remove it off of the white background. 

2. "Hand Paint" Pumpkin: I wanted to use pumpkins that looked painted, so I wanted to show you a quick way to get that effect using a public domain photo.

Add a Solid Color bright orange layer (I just grabbed the darker orange from the Morris paper) and clip it to the pumpkin. Turn the opacity down to 75% or so, until the pumpkin looks painted but you can still see some of the details. 

Use a black hard brush on the layer mask to remove the orange from the stem.

3. Clip a lighter orange (from the paper) Solid Color layer on top around 75% opacity and fill the layer mask with black. 

Use a hard white brush to add the color to the stem.

Now we have a lovely painted pumpkin that has some nice detail.

4. Make a new document 5 inches by 5 inches, 300 pixels/inch and center the Morris Fall 2 texture on top. 

5. Place the daguerreotype #2 texture on top in Soft Light blending mode, 55% opacity. This really adds a gorgeous worn effect.

6. Add the big pumpkin in the center under the daguerreotype texture and add a drop-shadow effect.

Note: The other two pumpkins are made from this big pumpkin. I just reduced their sizes, tilted or flipped them, and used a layer mask to remove part of the stem.

7. Add the other two pumpkins.

8. Select all three pumpkin layers and center them in the middle of the card.

9. Add your quote or greeting (I used Dancing Script OT) and add a drop-shadow and/or embossing if you want.

Like many of you, I don't go by the calendar's first day of fall and instead assigned it to September the first. Sure, it is still hot here, but the rains have made it look fallish, even though I have to face it that everything stays green through November or December here. 

But we have had some dark and gloomy days the last weeks after a long hot summer of drought, so I am celebrating by getting into a fall mood. Yay Fall!!!

CoffeeShop "HoneyComb 7" Photo Collage Board for Photoshop/PSE!

Today I wanted to share a brand new 12 by 12 photo storyboard set for print or web! This set has 7 hexagon clipping masks, one with and one without borders. 

They are completely customizable. You can even add pretty digital papers to them!

In the storyboard below I add my Andriessen texture on top in Soft Light blending mode and a gorgeous endpaper texture from The Graphics Fairy premium site (I am a part-time instructor there) on the bottom (50% opacity). I changed the color of the endpaper by putting a Color fill layer on top of it in Color blending mode. 

You can also add a texture only to the frames or just to the photos (by grouping those layers together and clipping the texture to it).

CoffeeShop "Light and Bright" Fine Art Photoshop/PSE Action!

Exactly two weeks until Christmas Eve, can you believe it? Where does the time go? I have done most of my shopping. It is much more difficult to buy gifts for 12- and 15-year-old boys than younger children.  Before I could just get Lego kits and stuffed animals and they were ecstatic. They still love Legos and build their own creations, but easy gifts like stuffed penguins won't cut it anymore.

I think I did pretty well, but I won't share until after Christmas. I stayed under my budget AND purchased gifts that they will continue to play with/use. I did threaten socks, but the Star Wars ones I wanted to purchase aren't available anymore! Yes, my family loves Star Wars (the original movies are favorites), so it is all about Star Wars this December. We have been watching all of the Star War movies once again, in order, to prepare for the new one. A few of them were very difficult to watch! I hope they don't mess up this new movie too much... 

Today I wanted to share a new Photoshop/PSE Action with you. This one is a very popular look and adds adjustable lightness/brightness and sharpens your images. I also added three optional layers to remove blue/yellow/red tints which is great for those yellow or blue inside shots. 

This action is beautiful on portraits, still life, and landscape images. A common problem is dark and dreary snow shots, and this action fixes that! If you want to sell your house, this action will make your interior shots beautiful and bright and remove strange color casts. This action would also be perfect for product photos for on-line stores like Etsy.

Coffeeshop "Light and Bright" Photoshop/PSE Action Tutorial: 

This image is too dark and there is a blue tint. 

Run the CoffeeShop "Light and Bright" action.

This is the image after the action finishes running, no adjustments made.

I have two Bright layers, Bright and Bright Extreme. Try both and see which one looks better. 

In this example, Bright Extreme looks the best. You can also adjust the Light and Define layers and turn on Increase Shadows if you find your darks are not dark enough. Play with each layer's opacity and paint on the layer masks if necessary.

You can see the distracting blue tint.

Turn on Reduce Blues and adjust the opacity. 

I think this image looks great!
