I am not always the best at backing things up, but I know it is very important. I am sure you back-up your images and files (right?), but have you ever thought about backing up your Blogger blog?
The first thing you should do is save a copy of your blog template to your hard drive. Go to Design, Edit HTML, Download full template. Save this file somewhere you can find it. Always save your template before making any changes to your html. And it doesn't hurt to have a copy just in case you need to start a new blog with that same template.
Did you know you could save to file your entire Blogger blog (posts and all)? I just found out

CoffeeShop Frames 6: Whimsical Frames
I have had so much fun designing digital frames and cutouts and I decided to put together a small set of whimsical "hand-drawn" frames. This set has three versions in layered .psd formal (open in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements). You can change the frame colors and there is a clipping mask layer to add your image.
Turn on the background if you want your frame on white. The frame layer is the black outline of the frame. Then you have your clipping mask layer. Simply group your image above this layer and Ctrl-T the image to fit. I have a tutorial posted here if you are unfamiliar with using clipping masks.
Click on the Color Fill 1 color square to change the color of the right and left sides of the frame, and on Color Fill 2 to change the colors of the top and bottom of the frame. Finally, the string is on the top. You can change the color of the frame outline and string from black to any color simply by adding and grouping a Color Fill layer above those elements.
You can also group digital paper or textures behind the frame if you don't want a simple color. Just remove the Color Fill layers and group the paper behind both the right and left and top and bottom layers and Ctrl-T them to taste.
After adding your images merge visible and save as a .png for a transparent background. Then drag them to your design.
I hope you enjoy playing with these. They would be really cute in blog headers or even cards or storyboards. And like all of my free downloads on this blog, you can use these on personal or commercial projects, no credit necessary.

CoffeeShop Sunny Pop Action and UnWrapped Tutorial!
CoffeeShop Sunny Pop is my newest action and UnWrapped tutorial. There are so many ways
to add warmth and a contrast boost to images, but I find this method works really nicely. And best of all, it is so easy! You can download the Photoshop and PS Elements action at the bottom of the post, but if you want to see the action "unwrapped" and try it on your own, please read my tutorial.
If you use the action, it will automatically flatten your image before starting. Once it finishes adjust the opacity of each layer to taste and use the layer masks where needed. And if you want to apply this effect to several images without using the action, just open a new image and drag and drop the two adjustment layers on top of it and adjust to taste.
CoffeeShop Sunny Pop UnWrapped Tutorial!
This is such an easy technique.
1. Open your image.
2. Add a Photo Filter Adjustment layer, set to Warming (85), Density 100%, and check Preserve Luminosity. Put this layer in Screen blending mode and adjust the opacity to taste. I used 75% in the action.
3. Add a Levels Adjustment layer but don't change any of the settings. Put this layer in Soft Light Blending Mode (Or Overlay) and adjust the opacity of this layer to get a subtle contrast boost. I used 25% in the action.
4. You might want to mask out skin or other areas of your image in the Photo Filter layer. Click on its layer mask, select a soft black low opacity brush, and paint over parts of the image that are too bright. I used a 50% opacity brush to paint over his face and the sky in the image above.
Here is another Before/After. I made the opacity of the Photo Filter layer 95% and used a soft 40% black brush to mask out the vase.
Wasn't that easy!

CoffeeShop Frames 5 - Valentine Frame!
I just realized Valentine's Day is rapidly approaching, so I wanted to make a few Valentine Web Frames for you. Actually, this frame isn't just for Valentine's Day, you can use it any time you want a girly frame. :-) This frame download includes both a layered .psd for Photoshop or Photoshop Elements (so you can use the clipping mask to add your iamges), and a .png so you can simply drop your image behind the frame and Ctrl-T it to fit.
I used digital papers from Sassy Designs.

CoffeeShop CutOuts 7: Brackets!
I had fun designing digital brackets and I wanted to share them with you. This set includes a layered .psd bracket where you can add textures/colors using adjustment layers and/or clipping masks and also a selection of transparent background .png ornamental brackets. I used textures from Sassy Designs, Inc. on the ornamental brackets. Please check out that website, they have a huge selection of affordable digital designs and papers and great sales!
You can use these on cards, storyboards, web design, etc. If you want the space between the brackets to be larger, use the rectangular marquee tool (M) to select the left bracket, then grab the move tool (V) and drag it to your design. Then do the same to the right side.
I hope you enjoy playing with these! I enjoy making digital design elements so I will be adding more. And all free downloads on my site can be used in personal or commercial design, no credit necessary.

CoffeeShop BackDrop Fix Action and Tutorial!
I have had many people request an action/tutorial on making white backgrounds more white and dark backgrounds more dark. I usually tell them to try a levels or curves adjustment layer and mask out their subject, but there is a easier method. I actually finally googled it and found the inspiriation for this tutorial and action: Replace Color adjustment.
I have heard of Replace Color, but I never really played with it before. But this little adjustment makes it so simple to fix dark and white backgrounds. Andrea Berger, a professional photographer, sent me the image above of the little boy praying and the image below of the tacos for me to use as examples in this tutorial. Thank you so much Andrea! You can check out more of her amazing work here.
CoffeeShop BackDrop Fix Tutorial and Action UnWrapped:
If you would rather use an action please scroll down for the free download at the bottom of this post. Make sure you reference this tutorial so you will know how to use the action.
This is Andrea's before image. The background is brown, but I want it white.
Make a copy of your background layer (Ctrl-J) and then:
Photoshop: Image, Adjustment, Replace Color. Click on brown background and adjust the Fuzziness slider until the entire background is selected, and then adjust the Lightness slider up until you see the background become white. Don't worry about how it affects the main part of your image right now. Click OK.
Photoshop Elements: Enhance, Adjust Color, Replace Color. Follow the steps above.
See below. In this case I didn't make the background a solid white, but rather a soft off-white. I could have gone pure white if I had wanted to using this method.
This completely blew out all whites in the food section, so I added a layer mask and selected a hard to medium-hard black paintbrush, clicked on the mask to select it, and painted out the food. Depending on your image, you might not have to use the layer mask at all.
If you want to make sure you completely painted over everything important, click on the layer mask while pressing down Alt. The black area is where you have painted on the layer mask to remove the Lightness adjustment. As you can see I did a pretty decent job. Hold Alt and click again on the layer mask to see your image.
This should probably be done as a final step in your editing. Here is the "after" image below. You can also do the same type of editing with a dark background. Instead of dialing up the Lightness in Replace Color, dial it down to make the background darker.
If you decide to run the action you adjust Replace Color on the fly as it runs, and then the action adds a layer mask so you can remove the adjustment where needed.
If you are using PSE8 or below and you want edit without the action, you can download the free CoffeeShop Layer Mask action.
I wanted to mention if you are having issues installing actions, you can read all about it on my Action Install page. You can also post questions on my Facebook page (please don't forget to like my page).
If you would rather use an action to fix your BackDrop to save a little time, you can download the CoffeeShop BackDrop Fix HERE. You can also download it here!
I hope you enjoy this little tutorial. I told you before I am learning as I go. ;-) And I want to thank everyone for sending me great suggestions of things I could post on my blog. I want to continue my series of free web-ready actions, and today I am releasing CoffeeShop Web Painted Borders. This action flattens your image and allows you to resize and sharpen for the web and then applies a painted effects border without having to use clipping masks. Like all of my new actions, it runs in Photoshop and PS Elements.
When the Unsharp Mask menu come up, simply adjust the radius to taste to sharpen your image. When you are prompted to resize the image, adjust the pixel width. It is preset to 600px wide.

CoffeeShop CutOuts 6: Digital Tags!
I wanted to make some digital tags that could be used on storyboards, cards, websites, buttons, etc so I designed this new set. I realize I now I named two different designs CutOuts 6, but I am too lazy to make the name change. ;-)
There are 5 .png files with both plain and vintage paper designs and one layered .psd tag where you can change the color of the tag and the border or add images/textures via clipping masks using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. I used this beautiful vintage floral texture on one of the tags; thank you Brooke! And I also used a gorgeous paper texture from Shadowhouse; thank you Jerry!
You can add text/images/textures to these tags and use them all over. And check out all of my other free scrapbooking digital design elements!
Before you use use the floral vintage tag erase the credit on the bottom of the image or select it with the marquee tool and then delete it.

CoffeeShop Frames 4 - A New Vintage Frame Set!
I wanted to post some more free vintage frames for you. Yes, I love making frames and you can download all of them, including storyboards, here. I made these today using brushes (this tutorial inspired me) and some paper textures. These three frames all have torn ragged edges and are high resolution .png files so you can use them for print or the web.
Instead of clipping masks (I realize many of you are still not comfortable with using them), I am trying something easier. These frames are simple .png files with transparent backgrounds. You add your image by dragging it under the frame. Then free transform (Ctrl-T) the image to fit. If the image is too big and some of it is hanging out on the sides of the frame, just click on the image layer and then select the areas of the images outside the frame with the rectangular Marquee tool (M) and hit delete.
If you are adding this frame on a white background, flatten and save as a jpg. If you are using it on a colored background, either save as a .png file (do not flatten) or add a color fill layer on the bottom that matches your background and save as a flattened jpg.
I hope you enjoy these frames! You can download the CoffeeShop Frames 4 here.

CoffeeShop Web Simple Frame PS/PSE Action!
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday this last month. We had a great time
with friends and family, but I am ready to start the new year. Imp's teeth are doing well (they are somewhat crooked now but the wounds are healed), but I am still having flashbacks of the accident. He doesn't seem to remember and is back to jumping around like a stuntman and driving me crazy. All I can do is say a little prayer and keep my fingers crossed and ask myself why I didn't have two nice little calm girls who liked tea parties and playing with dolls. A girl who was not like me since I was a tomboy and just as bad as my two little rugrats.
I have a new web action for free download today. This one is called CoffeeShop Web Simple Frame and it is perfect to quickly ready your images for posting on your blog or website. It resizes, sharpens, and adds a small white frame with drop-shadow to your images.
When you start the action it flattens your image and then asks what size you want your images resized for the web. Put in the final pixel width (it is preset to 600) and the length will automatically adjust. The action will then sharpen your image for the web (adjust the radius to taste) and add the frame and drop-shadow.
Adjust the drop-shadow setting if needed and save as a .jpg for posting on white backgrounds, and save as a .png for posting on backgrounds that are not white.
If you don't want your images to be stolen when you post them on the web, it is best to always watermark them and upload small versions. If you upload large images on Blogger and adjust the size to be smaller in your post, people can still access your larger image if they click on the image, unless you change the code.
I hope you enjoy this new web action! You can find all of my Web Ready actions on this page. Just page down to Web Actions. All of my web actions work in both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.
Download the free CoffeeShop Web Simple Frame action here.
