Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas!!! It is 80 degrees, we are all in shorts, the kids are playing with some of their cousins, and we adults are getting to visit. This year everyone is getting along so far (amazing, right?) and we are having a peaceful Christmas.

And yes, all of the fancy wooden Waldorf-inspired toys we purchased for Atti the baby were completely ignored over a 5¢ golden bow and empty Amazon box.

This month hasn't only been fun and games. On the Fourth Advent Sunday my kids were a bit over-stimulated due to not getting enough sleep the previous night. We were trying to sing Christmas carols around our Advent wreath and the older one was being rude to the younger one. So I decided to sing "The Grinch Song" (You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch) and dedicated it to the older grumpy one.

He promptly burst into tears and ran upstairs. Then the younger one was upset that I made the older one cry and he started crying and ran out of the room. And I sat there and felt like the worst mom in the world.

After some hugs and apologies, we all were back together singing carols. Our last song that night was "Blue Christmas" and I changed the words to "I had a Blue Advent, with you..." and got into trouble again. Goodness, no wonder I received that piece of coal in my stocking... ;-)

And talking about coal, a few years ago Imp was being naughty and I told him he better shape up or he would get a piece of coal  in his stocking that Christmas. He was a spunky little boy and said "That is fine, then I can burn in and stay warm". Darn that kid...

  1. Love your story. Made me smile. Hope you had a nice Christmas holiday also. Ours was very quiet...all the grown kids with families of their own weren't able to come this year so it was kind of blue around here, but tried to be a good mom and be glad they had fun things to do. :)
