CoffeeShop "Sweet Cupid" Photoshop/PSE Fine Art Action!

I wanted to create a new pretty-in-pink edit in time for Valentine's Day, and here it is! I call it "Sweet Cupid" and it is particularly lovely on baby and female portraits and florals. But it can be used on so many other images because it is so adjustable. And this one is not just for Valentine's day, it can be used year round. :-)

This action is included in my Action/Preset Download pack, along with hundreds of other ones and many exclusive sets you can't find anywhere else! If you buy any of my convenient download packs you not only support my blog (Thank you!!!), but you also can request free updates up to 2 years after purchase. This is a nice deal since I try to update the pack with additional goodies every week. And the download also comes with all of my favorite holiday digital designs. It is massive!

Original  images used in this post: (Bridal, Floral, Baby, Nature).

CoffeeShop "Sweet Cupid" Photoshop/PSE Action Tutorial:

Run "Sweet Cupid". This is what the image looks like with no adjustments. There are two "Cupid" layers, "Cupid" and "Soft Cupid". I am using "Soft Cupid" in this edit because it applies a pretty matte pink. For more contrast turn on the "Cupid" layer instead.

I turned on the "Save the Whites" layer. In this screenshot it is set at 100%, but I ended up lowering it to 50% later on in the edit.

I upped the "Peachy Color" layer to 70% to soften the image. This layer looks amazing on not-so-perfect baby skin.

Finally, I wanted to add back some contrast to the floral headpiece, so I clicked on the "Peachy Highlight" layer's mask and used a soft low-opacity black brush to remove that effect off the flower.

I hope you have fun editing with this new action!

  3. Hello Rita I hope you are doing great today. I have a problem with the "sweet cupid action" every time I try to run the action I received this message for some action saying "The soft cupid action isn't available right now" "The cupid action isn't available right now" I got this message for several of the action not beeing available. Here's the list of the action not available and for some actions I got the message 2-3 times : layer background, layer levels 1, layer 1, layer color fill 2, layer color fill 2 copy, layer define, layer color fill 2 copy, layer define command isn't available, layer level 2, layer color fill 1, layer peachy highlights, layer create, layer cupid, layer background, layer peachy pop, layer peachy color, layer soft cupid. Because of that I can't apply the action to my picture because there is some actions missing and I don't understand why. I don't know what to do because only few of the actions are available when I run the action. Can you help me please??? Thank you so much in advance.

    1. The fix for this is usually just resetting your Photoshop preferences. I can't remember the keystroke off hand, but you can find it by googling it. You probably changed some setting that is throwing everything off! Are you using Photoshop or PSE, and what version? If resetting your preferences doesn't do the trick send more details and I will try to figure out what is going on!!!

  4. Hello again Rita, so I did reset my preferences as you suggested me even though I did not change anything in my preferences since I install photoshop on my computer 2 years ago. But it did not change anything. I still get those messages everytime I press play to execute the actions saying "The soft cupid action isn't available right now" "The cupid action isn't available right now". I am using Photoshop CC 2015 I am not sure what you need to know to help me, so if you have specific questions feel free to ask me. I also want to mention that some actions work fine but some won't. I try to go in the action panel to manually activate the actions that are not working but when I try to click on the icon to activate them it doesn't work nothing happens the icon that is supposed to appear to confirm that the action is activated don't show up and the little square area where the icon is supposed to appear when you activate an action remains empty. If you have an email address I can send you pictures of everything I am talking about to have a better idea of what is my problem. So please let me know if you have an email address if you want some pictures of my problem or if you know what to do to fix my problem. Thank you.
