{Friday Photo Bliss}: Games, Walks, Butterflies

This week has been beautiful with blue skies and cool breezes. But we know that Hurricane Irma is approaching Florida and our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in her path. Please be safe!

The greenbelt finally dried up so we were able to check out the drainage area to make sure no fish were trapped. We found many tadpoles and minnows, but no alligator gars this time. We were quite disappointed.

I told the boys if they wanted to play any video games they needed to play board games first. So they taught themselves Scrabble. I was laughing inside because both of these boys are the WORST spellers. Just like their mom... ;-)

Not so bad! Imp won by 3 points.

And they also learned how to play backgammon. When I was taking this photo I was trying to get Piper's face in the screen and didn't even notice Imp. I tell you, this kid is Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes.

Imp made homemade enchilada sauce for chicken enchilada's. They were amazing!!!

And remember these caterpillars that we found in our parsley during the hurricane?

Here is one of the butterflies!

Please be safe out there on the Southeast Coast.

  1. Glad to hear it was a calm week and you're starting to get back to normal life. That butterfly is gorgeous! Now those I could handle hanging around in my parsley. The caterpillars...not so much.

My wishes are also with those who've suffered from the devastation of now Irma. Between all the hurricanes and the fires, it has been a rough year weather wise.

    1. Yes, life is back to normal which is wonderful. And I love those butterflies! And Irma was so incredibly scary, I hope everyone is ok over there. It has been a rough summer with the fires and hurricanes in the US... Rita

  2. Hi Rita! I've been following your posts for quite a while now and just wanted to say that this is such an interesting well balanced piece of writing. I'm in Australia; though we are not suffering hurricanes here at the moment we hear all about what is going on there in the US at the moment, and are saddened by the hardships being suffered.
I just love the caterpillar to butterfly pictures, but also seeing the friendly faces of your gorgeous children. I nearly said long suffering children, as they are often the focus of your photography, but heck - they are lucky to have a talented and loving mum who catches so many great moments in their lives.

    1. Thank you so much Kaye! It has been a rough year for the US with the fires and hurricanes. Hopefully we will get some peace for a while.

And I love the "long suffering children", so true! They have been so patient. Now they let me know what photos I am not allowed to post of them so it works out great. I don't use as many photos of them in my editing tutorials now so I won't drive them crazy. ;-) Rita
