CoffeeShop "Rosy Lights Effect" Photoshop/PSE Action!

Yesterday I was thinking about Valentine's Day (the boys keep on bringing it up because I told them we will make homemade chocolates for their grandparents and friends this year) and I was inspired to write a new action that would be beautiful on Valentine images. CoffeeShop "Rosy  Lights Effects" adds a beautiful adjustable pink to orange light-effect to you images and has an optional Matte layer.

I am using this stunning image from Jill Wellington on this tutorial.   Jill just put out a beautiful new set of snow overlays you should check out on her blog.

Run the action.  You will see the light effect placed on your image and you should adjust it to fit. Just grab the corners and  pull it out until you are happy with the size and placement.  If you can't see the bars to move it, just Ctrl-0 (that is zero) to zoom out and back in.  Press the check when you are finished moving it.

This is the image after the action finishes running.  You can adjust the opacity of the Rosy Light layer (it is in Screen blending mode) or even try it in Soft Light blending mode.  I usually like to mask some of the Rosy Light layer from my portrait's skin.

I clicked on the Rosy Light layer's mask and then painted over her face with a soft black brush at 100% and her arms and legs with a 40% brush.  Then I dialed down the Rosy Light layer to 67%.

If you want a Matte effect you can turn on the middle Matte layer and adjust its opacity as I did in this  screenshot.

Try the Rosy Light layer in Soft Light blending mode also.  I dialed this one down to 67%.  Soft Light adds more contrast/reduces haze.

Here is the final image.  I think I will take it one step further and remove some of the color from the grass on the bottom. I used a 40% soft black brush and brushed over the entire lower part of the image.

Here is my finished image!  I think this is a really pretty edit for portraits and I hope you enjoy playing with it.  I would love to see your "after" images over on my Facebook page.
