I want to wish everyone a happy Valentine's Day. I hope you can spend some time with your loved ones, even if it is not romantic. ;-)
I am trying to find a new affordable file hosting site for my actions
and other goodies on this blog. I am annoyed with the pop-ups on MediaFire, and I am not happy with 4hared. I have heard great things about DropBox. Does anyone use Dropbox, and if so, what are your honest thoughts about it?
If you find any broken links downloading anything on any of my posts please make a comment on that post and I will get it fixed.
I am trying to release my newest free portrait action this week!!! I have a long list of freebies I need to organize and get up here.

I use drop box and it it has been great. Very easy to upload as you just drop it in the file folder. In general my clients have found it easy to use and download. Only one person so far could not get it to work. You get free space every time someone signs up for their own account so I am up to 4.5 gigs I think. Of course I would like more, LOL! I would recommend it. Thanks for all of your frebies!
ReplyDeleteI love Drop Box too but have only used it to transfer files with my sister-in-law to help her with her Photography Business. It is very easy to use tho!
ReplyDeleteI just wonder if it would be too easy for someone to hack into your computer though because the files are not on their site, you set the access. Unless they have more than one account type.
ReplyDeleteI use Dropbox to transfer files to and from my iPad/iPod and PC, and my work PC. Very quick and easy to use, as the earlier folks have said. I haven't used it to share files, but it's my understanding that you can drop files into a `public' folder which you can then share with other people. I'm not sure you can share files one at a time, however... Maybe someone else knows. - a Canuck.
ReplyDeleteIs that true Laurie? I want a site I can upload my files up to. I need to do more reading.
ReplyDeleteI don't now about the cost for what you need, but I've been happy with my limited use of Box.net. You might take a look. I have the free account and you're allowed 5GB.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines Day Rita!!
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about file sharing except how to download them ;) Sorry! Im much better with dog issues.
Cant wait for your next portrait action!
you're so very kind to share with us.. look forward to reading more about your country life and seeing your new action and no input on the file sharing/saving..good luck though.
ReplyDeleteHi Rita - First, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all that you post on this site - tutorials, freebies, everything! You've built an incredible resource here and I hope you know how talented appreciated you are. THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteI also use DropBox and have been happy with it - although my use has been restricted to backing up my own files as opposed to sharing.
Happy Valentine to you too!! I use Dropbox to share pictures with family and friends and even to access my files remotely. I have three different computers at home and sometimes my husband helps me out too. Did you give Google Docs a thought.
ReplyDeleteI really like it and no pop up's involved!
I use drop box and LOVE it!! It usually opens as a direct download- which is so nice. No muss, no fuss!
ReplyDeleteI love DropBox!! I use it every day. It has been so reliable and easy to use.
ReplyDeletei use drop box and its soooo easy. I just have the free version now so there is a limit to downloads and I tried using it for a blog train and they shut my links down for excessive use.
ReplyDeleteBox.net is also a good place for downloading and its pretty easy also. I have found the best is just to set up an ftp if you have your own domain and have storage.
