CoffeeShop Sunny Pop is my newest action and UnWrapped tutorial. There are so many ways
to add warmth and a contrast boost to images, but I find this method works really nicely. And best of all, it is so easy! You can download the Photoshop and PS Elements action at the bottom of the post, but if you want to see the action "unwrapped" and try it on your own, please read my tutorial.
If you use the action, it will automatically flatten your image before starting. Once it finishes adjust the opacity of each layer to taste and use the layer masks where needed. And if you want to apply this effect to several images without using the action, just open a new image and drag and drop the two adjustment layers on top of it and adjust to taste.
CoffeeShop Sunny Pop UnWrapped Tutorial!
This is such an easy technique.
1. Open your image.
2. Add a Photo Filter Adjustment layer, set to Warming (85), Density 100%, and check Preserve Luminosity. Put this layer in Screen blending mode and adjust the opacity to taste. I used 75% in the action.
3. Add a Levels Adjustment layer but don't change any of the settings. Put this layer in Soft Light Blending Mode (Or Overlay) and adjust the opacity of this layer to get a subtle contrast boost. I used 25% in the action.
4. You might want to mask out skin or other areas of your image in the Photo Filter layer. Click on its layer mask, select a soft black low opacity brush, and paint over parts of the image that are too bright. I used a 50% opacity brush to paint over his face and the sky in the image above.
Here is another Before/After. I made the opacity of the Photo Filter layer 95% and used a soft 40% black brush to mask out the vase.
Wasn't that easy!
