Maybe I should wait to comment on this since the random picker will for sure not pick #1 comment but I would love to get more info on photographing newborns. I think it is such a sweet and special time to photograph. I would also like to see a tutorial on photographing big groups like for family reunions and how to get the faces to really stand out in a group of 20 or more. cassi@byu.edu
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds like a perfect workshop. For the future I'd love to see advice on editing group shots - when there are four or more people in the photo noone is really big enough to spend hours making their eyes pop and skin perfect.

What a wonderful giveaway. A couple of my boys have quite olive skin tones and I find photographing and editing them sometimes difficult as opposed to the two fairer skined boys, so I guess what I would like to see is a tutorial on editing this type of skin tone, giving them a brightness without lightening if that makes sense.

It's funny that you've asked us to name a future tutorial we would love to see on CoffeeShop in order to win this workshop; had you asked me yesterday, I'd have said a newborn photography tutorial! My friends and family members are giving birth left and right these days and the hubby and I are childless so I have to get my baby dose through photos of other people's little ones :) If I have to pick a *different* tutorial other than newborn photography, I choose a tutorial on the top 5-10 post-processing edits most photos could use :)

ReplyDeleteAs far as what tutorials I would like to see, it would be great to learn more about using the magic wand, the magnetic lasso tool, etc. I am never sure when to use which and what is the best way to extract someone or something from a photograph.

I absolutely LOVE this blog and Morgans too. As for a tutorial I would like to see in the future, I am not sure, as I am still pretty new to photography and photoshop. Maybe something to do with basic edits for people and animals? I love the actions but I love the "unwrapped" tutorials even more because I get to do it and learn from it ;) Thank you both for all the time and effort you put in to sharing all these tutorials!

Uh oh. I'm number 1. And probably not gonna win this baby...but I would like to possibly see a tutorial for using gimp. It is open source photoshop. I'm still learning to maneuver through it and would love to figure out how to use actions in the program.

ReplyDeleteThere are two subjects I would like to see a tutorial about. Firstly, more in-depth explanations on how to fix color on photos, how to read a histogram, etc. And secondly, how to take those beautiful backlit photos with a sunset behind the subject.

I'd like to see a tutorial on photographing moms. Most of my friends are a bit overweight (still carrying baby fat) and while we are comfortable with our bodies, I'd like to hear about poses that would work best for us. Also editing the pics to give a mom the "boost" in her confidence (like reducing double chins).

I think what I'd like to see is how to make the most of a not so sunny day. Natural light is ideal and only the best fastest nicest lenses cooperate in most conditions but we don't all have super sunny homes to work out of. What are some tricks to milking the most light out of a room?

I would love to have a workshop on how to photograph family, mainly families with small children. Since I fall into that realm myself I can never get both my girls looking the same way or things of that nature. I love taking photographs outside at parks so I would love to know more about angles, lighting, positioning and what makes for a great backdrop.

I recently had a baby and after taking hundreds and hundreds of photos over the past two months I have decided to offer newborn portraits besides focusing on weddings. The workshop is exactly what I need to gain some confidence working with newborn babies since they make you WORK =)

When we use the layer masks and some says to duplicate the layer, do we need to merge the 'photo' layer with the 'mask' layer? I guess the work shop would be how to work with the layers, how the flow of our work should go, etc.

I am a Coffeshop & Morgan Kervin Photography ADDICT! I've been doing my own Photography for a year now & Morgan is such an inspiration! I enjoy using my actions & learning new things. For an ROCKIN tutorial I think something along the lines of posing with large groups & Holiday Actions for PSE! I am SO in love with the actions from Coffeeshop & I also enjoy all the tutorials that gets explained with it as well. This makes your editing look so much more natural & gives the viewers images that stand out from the crowd. This class would be so much fun since I've been working with a lot of newborns in the last few weeks. I feel like I am really missing out on some pertinent information on posing them and would love to get my creative juices flowing and also, so it doesn't seem like I am doing the same poses from one newborn to another! I've been trying to find out how to do that (My way just doesn't quite seem to be IT) and with the tuts I have looked at, I follow the directions, but there must be something I am missing.
