Thanks to this new book we purchased the other day, A Field Guide to Common Texas Insects

, we were able to identify this amazing
Rainbow Scarab Beetle. Yes, I realize it is a dung beetle and I found it by some chicken poop, but it is related to the ancient Scarab beetles of Egypt and is simply stunning. Look at that horn on top (it is a male). Amazing isn't it! Thanks little beetle; I am not a fan of poop and I appreciate your job as a tiny sanitation engineer.
