Computer Update 2!

After a stressful weekend waiting to hear about my poor dear broken computer, I finally found out this morning it was a hardware failure. My CPU was shorting out and caused all kinds of damage. So I must buy a new computer to replace my 1.5 year old computer. :-(

But there appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel. My Computer Dr. says he believes he was able to back up my files (like images and documents)... I am keeping my fingers crossed and saying my prayers. I have to buy a new computer, upload my files and programs, and then I should be good to go. In fact, even in a better position because I will have a newer faster computer with Windows 7 plus a better backup plan. :-)

So bad news, I am out some money and it will take time to get a new computer up and running. But if I am able to recover my images (again, saying those prayers!), it is really great news. And yes, I have learned so much from this whole experience.

I want to thank all of you for your incredibly kind comments and generous donations. You have allowed me to keep things in perspective and the donations will help replace my broken computer. I hope to be back up in a few days and I will be repaying your kindness with lots of new free stuff.

And a special thanks to my wonderful husband who had to be around a frantic stressed-out wife for almost a week. He managed to keep me from going nuts. ;-) Oh, and he also kept our two sick boys entertained this weekend (yes, on top of the computer issues we all came down with a nasty virus...). And I have missed being on the computer, so I am really excited that I will soon be back!!!

  4. So sorry to hear about your computer. I , too had a laptop that went to blue screen on me after only having it for about 18 months. It was a Compaq. I did have things backed up, but it is such a pain to have to re-do it all. Hopefully you will be up and running again soon.

  5. Hi Rita,
Big fan! Sorry to hear about your computer, but I am a PC Tech. Since it was your CPU, there is a really good chance your hard drive is still safe, with your information. We use a program called 'Boot-It' to copy a customers partition, from one hard drive to another. If your repair place does this, you will easily be able to have all of your files transfered over!
    Best of luck!
