CoffeeShop Moody Pop PS/PSE Action!

>> Wednesday, October 7, 2009

Oct. 23 Update: I have updated the CoffeeShop Moody Pop action and made the changes on the download links below. The new version has a B&W conversion layer. Turn it on for a B&W image, or turn it on and dial down its opacity for a muted color effect!

I think it is about time for me to post an action that is actually creative and not just practical. I have a few WIPs (works-in-progress) sitting in my action pane and I found this great action there, forgotten and unloved. :-)

I LOVE this action and can't believe I had "lost" it! This applies a moody contrast pop to both color and B&W images and a tiny bit of soft glow. It can even be used on portraits. There are three final layers; the original image, the Moody Pop layer, and a Vignette layer. You can adjust the opacity of the Vignette and Moody Pop layer to taste. If you want more Moody Pop or Vignette, just copy that layer (Ctrl-J) and adjust the opacity. I also included layer masks so you can reduce or remove the enhancements on parts of the image (such as skin).

Download the free CoffeeShop Moody Pop PS/PSE UPDATED Action HERE or HERE! And thank you so much for your wonderful commments and generous donations! Because of you, my amazing reader, I am able to keep everything free and I retain my excitment about blogging and posting new creations.

I love the look of this action, but it does not run correctly in PSE 5. The action runs smoothly till the end then I get this message: The object "layer "layer 5"" is not currently available.

Any suggestions on how to tweak it so it will work for me?

Thanks everyone, I am so glad you like this action!

And sorry, this action might not be compatible with PSE5. PSE5 is very buggy when it comes to actions and I haven't found a way to make the more complicated ones work in that program. :-( Time to upgrade maybe??? ;-) Rita

I was just surfing my regular stop. Which of course includes your very wonderful blog. I was thinking while visiting MCP Actions Blog and thinking that it would be fun to include some before and after shots on your blog. Where people could send to you and you could pick some to show. www.becphotography.weebly.com

I'm loving these actions! Thank you SO much for making them avaiable. I am having some trouble with this action in particular though. Like a previous poster, I too am getting the, "The object background is not currently available". Is this action not compatible with CS4 extended? Again, many thanks for all your hard work. It makes my life much easier. :)

I love this action but since I have reinstalled PSE8 on my laptop I am having trouble running this action. It starts changing the photo but then it says "the command transform is currently not available". Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do? I am desperate to get it back!

MIMI October 21, 2010 2:21 PM

I'm a newbie at using these actions and would love an exact walkthrough for this action if possible. A walk through similar to the one used in your 'sun flare' and 'lustrous pop." helllllp. :P

jeffylou November 1, 2010 4:45 PM

I have pse 8 and love this action, but it is giving me a "layer 5" problem. I was wondering if you had a quick fix? Thank you for helping all of us "at home" Mom's learn so much, you are great! Any help would be great. simpleabundance25@yahoo.com
