{Friday Photo Bliss}

On Fridays I like to post snapshots I have taken during the week that make me happy.

Fall is here and it is once again in the 80's and muggy.

That is OK, I will take it!

We ate delicious hamburgers on my low-carb/gluten-free Cloud Bread recipe. They had homemade mayo, avocado, and cheddar cheese. We love a big burger.

The guys and I went walking at the park. The kids can't resist a downed tree.

These clouds are gorgeous!

Duke got stung by a nasty Asp Caterpillar on his leg. You can see the outline of the Asp in blisters! The sting can be excruciating, but he must not have been stung too bad. He didn't complain much at all, but he is a pretty tough kid.

A few months ago I was working on the computer upstairs and two bloody kids suddenly appeared in front of me. They had been spinning on this giant plant holder with wheels in the driveway  (unbeknownst to me) and were both tossed off.  It looked like Duke had rubbed off most of the skin on his knee and Imp was covered with scrapes.

The first thing Duke said was "Mom, don't be worried."

He knows me so well.

Then he told me what happened. Honestly they were more amused than upset about the experience. And like Paul always tells me, boys like a really impressive scar...

This week was warm enough to go wading at the creek, but cool enough to slow down the snakes and alligators. At least I told myself that. The combination of cool water and sand/rocks/clay/grass felt wonderful on our feet.

The boys really enjoy being out in nature. Just like their mom. Today we plan on going back and bringing our fishing gear.

We don't see many beautiful fall leaves down here, but the Chinese Tallow-tree never fails to impress this time of year. The leaves are bright red and yellow and were floating down the creek like beautiful shiny little boats.

They were everywhere.

Duke and I couldn't stop laughing at Imp because he was pulling up his shorts while wading in 3 inch water. "Better safe than sorry" he told us. Crazy kid.

And one of my favorite holidays is almost here! This year I am thankful for so much, including that I bucked tradition and decided I will use paper plates this year instead of china. I am having a full house and I want to make it easy on my washing up.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!

  1. You know, you are really someone I look up. You do so much by hand (baking, natural cooking, making your own soap and a thousand other things), plus you home school to boot. Never mind that you also work hard to provide so many wonderful goodies for your readers! Your kids (and husband for that matter) are really lucky to have a mom/wife like you taking such good care of them.

In this season of Thanksgiving, I just wanted to say thanks for being such an inspiration!

    1. Lisa, you are so incredibly kind! I do have a lot of hobbies. However, things do slip, especially cleaning the house and laundry. And yard work. And blogging. And organizing... I really need more time in the day!!! But I am one of those people who always wants to learn new things and create. And read some great books for down time.
