I love a beautiful B&W conversion, so today I wrote a new action based on one of my favorite ways to do this in Photoshop/PSE. "B&W Intensity" is a fully adjustable B&W action that allows you to create anything from a soft matte to a dramatic "glossy" edit.
I wanted to mention that you can get this action along with hundreds of my favorite Photoshop/PSE actions and Lightroom presets in one simple download and help support this blog. This download pack also includes exclusive actions not found for free here or anywhere else and my favorite holiday digital designs. For an extra $4 upgrade to the Mega Pack which includes my favorite actions, presets, storyboards, digital papers, textures, frames, etc. Thank you for your support!!!
I used beautiful images from Unsplash on this post (water baby, back tattoo, piggyback ride, white t-shirt, ballerina, the kiss, sheep).
I know that selective color is usually a "love it" or "hate it" enhancement. But I think it works beautifully in this image.
Run the action on your image (original image used in this example) and adjust the sliders on the Levels adjustment layer when it pops up.
I made no adjustments to the Levels layer in this version.
This version is a "Glossy" High Contrast edit.
This version is a Soft Matte edit.
I hope you find this action useful in your editing toolbox! I would love to see your own edits using "B&W Intensity" on my Facebook page.
