CoffeeShop Poll: Please help me improve my blog!

I am always trying to improve this blog and thus increase my readership, and I would love to have your help.

Please answer my poll below (I just figured out how to use the Blogger Poll widget in my post, hope it works!) so I can make sure I am creating and posting things that actually interest you and will encourage you to come back and even send your friends. Just pick the top reason/reasons you bookmark and visit my blog regularly.

I really appreciate your help, and I promise to do my best to make CoffeeShop somewhere you love to visit. If you have any suggestions to improve my blog, please leave a comment below (broken links, making it more user-friendly, post more texture tutorials, etc.). Thanks!

What are your top reason(s) for visiting The CoffeeShop Blog?

  1. Hi Rita! I like your Photoshop Actions and posts about life.=)

  2. I love hearing about your family adventures. (Reason why I read your blog.)

  3. I selected other in addition to PSE actions/tutorials because I've been reading for a few years and just like to keep up on your homeschooling journey/healthy lifestyle. I enjoy reading your blog!
One little thing that I think could be done to improve your blog (since you're asking...and maybe this is just a personal preference thing) is to make the blog page itself less busy looking. I find I prefer to read blogs with a certain format (bio/pic on the right side, full post in the middle). Maybe that is just my change-adverse self talking! And seriously, it is such a small thing that I certainly wouldn't stop reading your blog for it. :)

  4. Elizabeth, I do agree my blog is very busy looking. It is because of my ads which I need to keep up there. But I will think about ways to make it more clean, great suggestion!

And I had one of the poll answers as read about my homeschooling/etc. life, but decided to remove it because I thought no one would check it! I love reading that some of you actually enjoy those posts. Great, I will keep on blogging about my life.

  5. I decided to move my blog posts over to the right so all of the ads are on the left. I think that makes it less cluttered looking now. Hopefully you guys will agree!

  6. Your site is pretty great as is. I've loved Photography since a child, and finding your site was great because you encouraged me to get Adobe Photoshop with your tutorials and learn more ways to improve on photography. Thanks so much for what you do.

  7. I always like seeing you gluten-free/healthy and homeschooling posts just as much as I do your photography-related posts. As a grown-up homeschooler, photographer, and someone who eats gluten-free it's all relevant to me.

  8. Rita...I enjoy everything about your blog especially the kids and life. I look forward to the photoshop (pscs6) tutorials. I find all of them helpful and very user friendly. They are well written, nothing is ever left to chance/guessing. I do also like the actions and have down loaded many...I have less occasion though to use the actions. I enjoy making photo manipulations (term?) taking elements that I have purchased and making a fantasy photo. So, tutorials on blending, layers, gradients, filters, brushes, hdr are really helpful. In general I find the blog very easy to navigate all of the tutorials are clearly listed, and I have found many of the ads very useful especially for fonts. Thanks for asking.

  9. Hi! I love your tuts, freebies and writing style. It's always nice to read about your life stories. I was drawn to your blog by your frames, they are very well done.

  12. I'm another reader that loves stories about your life. Without that, a blog can become impersonal. With it, we become friends.

  13. I like all the content of your blog, especially the tutorials. I really like seeing the adorable and funny pictures of your boys that you post. I have recently been using Lightroom 4 and LOVE it, so of course I would love more of those tutorials, but I still need photoshop. Thanks for all your hard work.

  16. I like the layout with the posts on the left. I actually like most of the adverts. The keep me up to date.

I enjoy reading the posts about your life in between working. They provide a few moments of relief from what can sometimes be a very frustrating job.

I enjoy seeing the new looks you come up with. It helps keep me fresh and creative.

I send my clients who are momtographers to your blog and they find it so helpful!

  17. Agree with most other comments. You are very good at what you do. Love the tuts and freebies. Love hearing about your life and photos. You are not long winded which leaves me wanting more. Wishing I could look at the 'whole roll of film' to see the pics that come before and after. One of the best blogs out there. C

  18. I love the actions & tutorials but also like to hear your family adventures/recipes, etc. You have provided me so fuel for thought in my own parenting adventures.

I also appreciate the list of free kindle books. I don't even know how to find out about them & you always provide such great ones.

Thank you for all you do!

  19. Wow, thank you so much everyone! I am pretty much what-you-see-is-what-you-get so if you read my blog you do know me in a way. I really think I have the best readers and I think so many of you are living a life similar to mine.

  20. Hi
I agree with the other comments and really enjoy your blog but my main reason for calling in so often is because its got a white background and black letters.
I am a silver sufer with failing eyesight and find it very easy to follow.

    Thank you for sharing

  21. When I first found you blog, I kept coming back for the tutorials and the free goodies, but as I've progressed as a photographer, I find that your style doesn't quite match up with mine anymore (which is ok!). However, I still check in at least once a week to keep up with your life, I think it's interesting, and kind of my dream life, which probably sounds weird. Being a stay at home mom, supporting herself by doing what she loves- that's what I want! I know not every one loves personal posts on graphics sites, but that's what keeps me coming back. :)

  22. Oh I totally understand about needing the ads! I certainly think you deserve to make what you can from this blog...you offer so much great stuff and I'm sure we all appreciate it! I do like all the ads on one side better. :) I'm weird like that! Thanks!

  23. My other reason: I just like to hear about your life. I'm a blogger too. And I enjoy reading other people's blogs. Also, thanks for the actions and tutorials.

  24. I like reading about the trials and tribulations you go through with your family and life in general. I connect with the fact that you seem to want to better yourself and your environment...always learning, trying new things... it is inspiring! Of course I love what you do and that you offer so soo soooooo much to everyone! Thank you.

  26. Storyboards! I really appreciate your work and actions as well.

  27. I enjoy reading about your life, your boys (mine is 5) and your recipes and links (I am trying to stay gluten free) are helpful. Your actions are amazing, thanks so much. And also, I love your Friday photos, you have inspired me to capture more of our everday life. I tend to always want that perfect portrait of my son, clean clothes, posed, etc, and I realized I was missing out on capturing him just being a boy, so thanks!
