The Green Machine ROCKS!

This month we are celebrating Duke's 6th birthday (yes, it is in the same month as Christmas poor dear...). He has plenty of toys and books and I was trying to figure out what to get him.  I came up with something I have wanted since I was a little girl and never had because we lived on dirt roads.

Yes, Duke is the proud owner of a Huffy Green Machine, the ultimate ride!  It is even better than I remember and worth every penny.  This is from someone who hates to spend money.  :-)

Did I mention the weight limit is 180 pounds?  If you haven't shopped for your husband's Christmas gift yet...  ;-)

  1. We have one too ... it's a very popular toy! :) The only issue I have with it is that my 8 year old is tall for his age, and yet he still struggles to reach the pedals. That just doesn't make sense, since he is tall for his age. Anyway, we love it too! :)

  2. You know, Duke looks like he fits fine ... and yours looks newer than ours. Maybe they fixed that issue, or it was put together wrong or something. Looks like your hubby had a blast!!! :)

  3. My brother had a Green Machine. It was so much cooler than my Pink Barbie Big Wheel. I so want to ride one right now :) Thanks for sharing!

  4. Melinda, Duke is really tall and he JUST fits it and he is 6 this month. It says 5 and up, but that is not realistic at all for most kids.

I was so worried he wouldn't be able to drive it, but he zips around like a maniac. Thank goodness for helmets. :-)

And Gallery32, I had a horrible big wheel that I could drive on our dirt roads and it stunk... ;-)

  5. My younger sister got a Big Wheel back when they first came out *cough*decades*cough* ago. LOVED it! My nephews all had Green Machines and they're just SO much cooler than Big Wheels!

I didn't realize that the weight limit was 180lbs on that thing. I bet if more people realized it there would be more parents riding them LOL

  13. My 6 year old daughter just received a Green Machine from Santa. She can reach the pedals fine if the seat is moved all the way up. But, the seat doesn't like to stay there, no matter how often we tighten the one bolt it comes with. Word of caution - the seat and the bracket underneath are both plastic, so don't over-tighten the bolt or the seat will break. Also, if you're even just a little bit over 180 lbs, the seat will break. The seat is the weakest part of the machine. Solution? Go to Home Depot and find some pipe collars or clamps in the plumbing section. Attach them to the rails underneath, and behind the seat , and the seat will no longer be able to slide back during play. As the kid grows, you can loosen the clamps and the bolt, and adjust the seat as necessary. Hope that helps any of you with seat position / reach to the pedals issues.
