Today I have a brand new painterly texture set called "Artisanal Textures 2". You can grab the first set here. These are beautiful oil-paint textures that can be used alone on your digital designs or layered over images.
I created these using the Topaz Impression Photoshop/PSE plug-in (app).
This set has seven beautiful high-resolution textures. You can use them alone in your designs (websites, storyboards, cards, scrapbooking art).
Or use them layered over images to add a beautiful painterly effect.
CoffeeShop Artisanal Texture 2 Set Tutorial:
Here is the original image. You can grab it here.
I added the "Storm" texture from the pack at Multiply, Fill 58%. If I were editing this for myself I would lower the fill even more, but I wanted you to be able to see the changes on your screen. :-)
I wanted to add some golden sun on the right side, so I added the "Midas" texture in Overlay Mode on top and added a black layer mask. Then I grabbed my Sunburst Brush in white and clicked on the black layer mask on the upper right corner to add some pretty golden light.
I love the finished image!
Here is a very dramatic edit. I used this image and added a Level's adjustment layer on top in Multiply to darken it. I removed that darkness off the water, sand, and people using a layer mask.
Then I added the "Forest" texture in Soft Light, 73% and blurred it completely off everything but the sky. I do this rather than remove it with a layer mask so that the texture colors will still be there, but not the texture.
Finally, I added the "Midas" texture in Soft Light, added a black layer mask, and used the same Sunburst brush from above to add golden light around the sun.
In this simple edit I added the "Midas" texture twice, once in Multiply and once in Overlay and removed some of the effect from the flower. (original)
