CoffeeShop Eye Bright PS/PSE Action!

>> Sunday, March 29, 2009

CoffeeShop Eye Bright is an action that runs in both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. It brightens and defines eyes and removes redness from the whites (due to stress or allergies or late night coffee drinking!). If you love the eye enhancements in CoffeeShop PowderRoom 2 or Perfect Portrait, but don't need the skin softening/teeth whitening step on every image, then this is the action for you. And like all CoffeeShop actions, the enhancements are completely adjustable and the effects can be as subtle or dramatic as you wish.

Here is a complete tutorial with screenshots!

If you just need a little reminder, here are some simple notes. Eye Define layer: Select black layer mask and paint over eyes and lashes with a soft white brush set to 100% opacity. Eye Brighten layer: Use a soft low opacity white brush to paint over the iris, and a soft low opacity black brush to paint over the pupil and black around the iris. Whites Whiten layer: Click to select the black layer mask and paint over the eye whites with a soft low opacity white brush to remove redness and whiten the whites. You can adjust each layer opacity if the effects are too much.

YAY FOR THIS ACTION! I love how it's just by itself (versus the Perfect Portrait and all of its gloriness). Thanks so much!

Thanks, I often would go to the perfect portrait only to get the eye part. So this will be great! Also can't wait for your new BW action, I'm loving the softness of the sepia one!

A friend just suggested your site to me and I don't think I can thank her or you enough! I love the actions! I am a classically (film) trained photographer and was having trouble understanding how some portraits looked as amazing as they do. The secret was your Eye Bright action. Thank you so much for creating such a great tool and teaching me something new!

I am a newbie/wannabe photographer and I love this action! If I don't need Powderroom, I always at least use this! Amazing how a face pops when you just brighten their eyes!

Hello... I am new to photography and struggling with your Eye Bright PS/PSE Action. I cannot seem to make it work. I would really like to learn how to do this. Is there a tutorial on your Blog for me to reference?

Thank you for all your help!!

vikkijac May 30, 2010 12:13 PM

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this particular action... just gives that extra POP.
I'm also using the white white layer to whiten teeth!

Hi there, I have just downloaded the Eye Bright action and can't wait to try it out. I have been looking for this action and happy to have found your site. Thank you so much.

Heather December 10, 2010 10:31 AM

I have an eye retouching question/request: Do you have any actions that fix red-eye? Sometimes using flash is unavoidable, and I have yet to find a good homemade way to remove red eyes. What do you do? Would you be able to package an action for red-eye removal at some point?

Jessica February 7, 2011 3:10 PM

I am competely new to the photography world and am trying to navigate the best I can. There is so much to learn. Just today, I learned about editing actions and let me just say...I am blown away with your actions. You are so talented. I hope I can absorb as much of your knowledge as possible! :) Thank you so much for sharing your hard work!

I have read all the FAQ and help section but just cannot get this action to work in PSE5.0. The action runs but when it's finished the picture is just grey. Any idea? I get several pop ups while the action is running saying the background layer is missing. Thanks!

Rita July 13, 2011 2:31 PM

Many of my actions won't work in PSE5. It might be time to upgrade! ;-) Rita

Hi Rita, I tried to use your eye bright action and i followed your instruction above and i still can get it work, what should I do after working through the layers? cos the image still in high pass. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Rita August 26, 2011 6:13 PM

pink velvet, I am going to write a new tutorial using this action in the next few days, so please visit my blog to check it out!

Octavia August 26, 2011 7:38 PM

This is just what I have been needing Particularly with my Male subjects that I photograph and they don't need softening on the skin...

Pink Velvet August 27, 2011 11:23 PM

Thank You Rita, looking forward to it.
