Last Saturday we decided we wanted to go tubing in San Marcus, TX. We do this at least once every summer, it is a family tradition. Since San Marcos is almost three hours away we booked a hotel for Sunday night.
We had a gorgeous view of the Texas State University campus from our room. Both my sisters went to college here. I am the only Aggie in our family and I married an Aggie.
I have to confess the town of San Marcos is much nicer than College Station and would be a great place to retire. They have an really nice airport here. It would be a nice place for the Gooney to hang out.
We rented tubes from the Lion's Club Sunday late-afternoon.
We were lucky, the weather was perfect (mid-90's and sunny) for tubing in cold spring-fed water.
Usually Paul and I have a cool glass of wine floating down the river, but I was doing the Whole30 and not drinking any alcohol for the month. Paul didn't want to make me feel jealous and drank sparkling water with me.
It wasn't quite the same... ;-)
We were the only nerds with swim shirts and no tattoos (and no alcohol).
San Marcos is a college town and tubing is a great place to people watch.
The kids had a blast.
And so did their mom.
Paul had a waterproof phone case so we were able to capture a few photos of our watery adventure.
Here is Paul giving me "Blue Steel". Or is that "Duck Lips"? Whatever it is, he has to stop!!!
Now Paul is giving me the "Don't drop my camera in the river or I will kill you!" look. Luckily I was completely sober and the phone was fine.
On the drive home Monday we stoped at the Gidding's City Meat Market to pick up some delicious BBQ to go. This is also a family tradition after a day of tubing.
It was only 10:45 so the restaurant was almost empty.
More BBQ for us!
We were only gone for 24 hours, but it was a perfect family trip.

So glad you had a wonderful family weekend. I've never seen a river full of tubers before! Looks and sounds like a fun time was held by all.
