CoffeeShop "Glitter Maker" Photoshop/PSE Action and Tutorial!

I can't believe Christmas is almost here. Last night we watched the original Grinch movie. It always makes me smile even though I keep on singing "Fah who for-aze! Dah who dor-aze! Welcome Christmas! Come this way! " in my head. That song is strangely addictive.

This week will be busy with family and friends, but I wanted to post a few new freebies before everyone goes to drink wassail and open presents.

Today I have a really neat action for Photoshop/PSE that automatically creates custom glitter paper. This paper isn't just for Christmas, you can use it any time of year in your designs. I especially love using it to decorate text.

Make sure you have the proper pattern before starting this action. The "Towel" pattern automatically comes with Photoshop/PSE. Read the instructions below to see how to find it. You can also use my glitter pattern, it creates a finer glitter.

CoffeeShop "Glitter Maker" Action Tutorial:

Before starting the action, make the Foreground Color swatch the color you want your glitter. In this example I am using a dark red.

As the action runs, at one point it will prompt you to load the pattern. If it does not automatically do this, just Click on the Custom Pattern drop-down, Select Texture Fill 2, and find the Towel pattern. Click to select it, then press OK.

I also love using my Glitter pattern that you can download for free here. This makes a slighter finer glitter.

Once you have selected your pattern, it will continue to automatically select that pattern until you change it, so you can make as many papers you want in a row.

Each time you run this action you will get three different types of glitter paper (from more to less glitter effect). Just turn your favorite. You can drag the paper on any design or simply save your favorite version as a jpg.

You can use these papers for website/blog backgrounds or any type of design work. I love grouping them with text for custom glitter text (I used this font in the example above). You can also use them on storyboards, Facebook covers, or anywhere you need a bit of glitter.

Glitter is not just for Christmas, it is useful all year round!

Blue is always nice.

I hope you have fun creating and using your own glitter paper!
