CoffeeShop "Gossamer Wings B&W" Photoshop/PSE Action!

I love baby photos and I was really excited when my friend Jill Wellington (FacebookBlog) sent me some images from her recent shoots.  They are gorgeous color images, but I was inspired to design a new B&W action for them.  I wanted to create a soft high contrast B&W action and I think"Gossamer Wings B&W" is the perfect B&W edit for them.

UPDATE! Use this action to create stunning B&W custom storyboards. Click on the image below to go directly to the tutorial.

CoffeeShop "Gossamer Wings B&W" Action Tutorial:

In this version I turned down the top "Edges Fade" layer from 100% to 40% and did not turn on the "Add Contrast" layer.  Like most of my actions, "Gossamer Wings" is completely adjustable so you can get the perfect B&W edit on your own images.   This version is so dreamy and beautiful.

You can also turn up the "Edges Fade" layer and remove selective areas off the skin with a soft black brush on the layer mask.

I ran "Gossamer Wings" on another baby image from Jill.  This edit has a bit more contrast  as I turned on the "Add Contrast" layer and turned off the "Edges Fade" layer.  I love being able to fine-tune my actions for each image.

I would love to see your before and afters on my Facebook page!  Be sure to link your website/Facebook so I can go visit.

  1. I LOVE THIS! I never turn my portraits to black and white because they lose something in the translation. But this is exactly how I want them to be! THANKS!!!!!
