“Summer will end soon enough, and childhood as well.” George R.R. Martin

“Later, when you're grown up, you realize you never really get to hang out with your family. You pretty much have only eighteen years to spend with them full time, and that's it.”
― Mindy Kaling, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?

Such thought-provoking words from Mindy Kaling (I loved her in "The Office").  Inspired by her wisdom, we hung out together all morning doing exciting and important stuff.

We started our adventure walking/biking/green-machining the neighborhood.  Playing "chicken" with Blackberry is not nice.  Poor dog.

I had to water the backyard (no sprinkler system here) and the boys built an umbrella fort and pelted the sprinkler with pinecones.  Poor sprinkler.

Imp is a bit confused about proper umbrella use…

Blackberry is trying to figure out why we are outside in the heat when the house is air-conditioned.  "Please please please can we go in now?  And do you have any bacon left from breakfast?  Look into my pleading, soulful eyes and do as I command you."

Imp, ignoring all of the current messages on the dangers of the sun, took a little sunbath on the back patio.  WITH NO SUNSCREEN!  THE HORROR!  (Disclaimer:  No child's skin was harmed in the making of this photo. Imp was only in the direct sun for five minutes, enough time to soak up some healthy Vitamin D for good health and strong bones and not long enough to cause his skin to melt off like that evil Nazi in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.)

Summer is going fast but we are squeezing every last ounce (gram?) of fun out of each day.  Hope you and your family are enjoying these last lazy days of summer at your house!
