Cool Hand Luke

Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
Cool Hand Luke

You know how I feel about Nothing.  And it appears that our newest family member Maple feels the same.  Finally there is another girl in our family.  And you know what, she fits in perfectly with the boys. She loves to run and jump and get filthy.

However, today I witnessed something quite gross. They came to cut our hay today and ran over a large mole, ending its poor life. I was showing it to Imp when suddenly little Maple jumped in and grabbed it and ran off. I was frantically chasing her around the hayfield trying to get her to drop it to no avail. She swallowed it whole! NOTE: This image was taken BEFORE the mole snack.

On a side note, I have a bit of a crush on Paul NewmanCat on a Hot Tin Roof
and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid are my favorite Newman movies, but Cool Hand Luke
didn't disappoint either.  ;-)

I used my free Mocha B&W LightRoom preset on this photo.

At first, I thought that was sooooo cute. Then I imagined a dead mole in that fat puppy belly. Ew.

My favorite Paul Newman is The Hustler. Closely followed by his salad dressing.

Too cute for words (even though very naughty for today's antics!).

You are not alone. I am a mom of 3 boys and we recently got a chocolate lab. We have had her about 2 months and the boys love her.

She also has the nasty habit of getting dead animal and gnawing on it. We have cats that leave dead animal (squirrels, voles, mice, etc.) and she picks up the left overs. Pretty disgusting.

But that's part of her job. And a puppy views the whole world as a toy, so anything that fits in the mouth is fair game.

Nothing says love like a puppy. Enjoy!

fab photo of your new puppy.

If you want him to bring you things, even dead things, start now with trading him for his treasures.

I generally have kibble and tiny bits of dog treats stashed all over the house when I have a new puppy. Then any time the puppy has something I don't want him to (and I'm only human so there are many teachable moments with puppies), I can call him, and trade a treat for the illegal item.

when you do this, it creates a life long habit of NOT chew up your stuff.

see here: if you are not grossed out easily....this is my young dog, Conner. One day in the spring of '09 he found a dead bird in the yard....but he did not take off with it, he brought it to me.

What a sweet little puppy! I have a boxer, and this shot is sparking a little inspiration for me. Can't wait to try out the Mocha Preset. Thanks!
