New Editing Toy!
>> Sunday, April 25, 2010
I am exhausted and haven't prepared a "real" post for today. See, it is my little son's birthday weekend and we have been so incredibly busy with family and friends. So I have to confess I don't have the energy to post a really great freebie or clever photo or even a half-interesting quote. I have tons of stuff to put out here and I will start getting it together this week. Thanks for being so patient!
So I am off to sink in the couch in front of the TV and veg a bit. I hope you all had a great weekend (that didn't necessarily involve chasing around two hyper boys ). :-)
Oh, I wanted to mention my new toy. My husband's office is paperless and he had an extra Wacom Bamboo Fun (Small) Black Tablet with Pen, Mouse and Graphics Software and he gave it to me! Oh my, I never even realized I wanted a graphic tablet, but it is incredible.
You can use it in most of your programs including Photoshop and Photoshop Elements and LightRoom. In fact, it comes with PSE6 (free!), so if you don't have PSE or have PSE5 or an earlier version and want a tablet you might consider upgrading now. I have PSE6 and love it.
I have already been drawing some fun doodles and swirls and plan on using it to make some freebies to post here. I have just started thinking about all of the ways I can use this little tablet and it is so exciting! You can use it instead of a mouse, but I keep my original mouse plugged in and just use the pen when I want to do something "artistic". I haven't touched its potential yet.
Now, back to my lovely soft couch. The computer is going off!

Have fun with your new toy! I used to have a Wacom Graphire tablet but left it at a hotel when traveling with by husband on a business trip. How I miss that tool, it made my job so much easier! (I do photoshop interior design renderings as a volunteer for a charitable organization that does building/remodeling projects)
I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
Oh I've been looking into getting one of these for a while! They look awesome! You'll have to tell us all the things you can do with it!!
I have a bamboo too (and LOVE it)
I use it for fine detail editing :)
The one I have came with PSE 5 (which was a HUGE leap up from the PSE 2 I was using...so ya, YAY!)
enjoy!
I have the same one that i bought last september and I love it!! it's great for when you're doing selective color etc ... i use my mouse for everything else. I want to try just using my pen tablet when i'm in photoshop.
LUCKY!!!
I've been lusting after one of those!
I noticed you put your flower assassin army guy in the header. LOL!!! Totally made me giggle :)
The wacom is excellent! I wish I bought mine way earlier. Next you should try the Intous4, phenomenal!
I've been drooling over one of those for ages... does he have any other spares? ;)
The one thing I'm not so sure about is if they're mac compatible as well... could I use it on my windows laptop for eg and then switch to my imac? *ponders*
Oh, I sympathize with you. You enjoy your restful moments, momma. I have three boys (11,9,5) that keep me moving beyond my ability (somehow). Baseball season has begun for us, here in Vermont - mu hubby is out of town and all three are playing. Thankfully, this is our Spring break from school (I drive a school bus). I was going to be a homeschooling momma, when I had my first son...when my second was born, I quickly realized that I was not disciplined enough for that :) Kudos to you for all that you do!
Hope yall had a wonderful weekend and birthday celebration! hootnonny
I am anxious to see how you use it! I have had one for a while now and have only used it once!!!
I have one....it is great for detail work when editing ~ not too mention doodling and playing with! :)
Hope your rest was "productive!" By the way, Love, Love, Love the watermarking kit!!!!!!
I have used a Wacom Tablet of some kind for years. I use it for everything. I set it up where it is the same as my monitor. Upper right corner is upper right corner on my tablet. I have never gone back to a conventional mouse, or wanted to, EVER! Congratulations on getting one! You will be able to teach me alot about this wonderful tool!
That looks like a lot of fun and not too expensive either!
I LOVE mine... I don't know how I ever made it without it!!
I am a total fan of my cute little, black Wacom tablet. I have a laptop though and it's not as convenient when I am out on the road. But when I am home, you can bet I am using my little pen for all things!
So, your roach add on the side really gives me the willies. I live in Texas and the less roaches I see, via computer, tv, live or dead, the better off my blod pressure is. Flowers have bugs. Maybe they can design a cute ad with flowers and sweet, fuzzy bugs.
I have a Wacom tablet and I LOVE it! You are going to have so much fun with that. You should check out ArtRage if you want to have some crazy fun :) http://www.artrage.com/
Somebody asked...totally mac compatible!
I love my bamboo fun tablet. Could not live without it now!! Enjoy!
My Wacom tablet just came in the mail yesterday. I set it up last night but didn't have the patience to work with it. Rough day yesterday.
Everyone keeps saying how much they love their Wacom so I hope I will feel the same! i bought mine used on eBay but may pass it on to my daughter and buy a new one instead.
Looking forward to your tips and examples!
Enjoy your rest (Moms deserve those after parties!!), and then have fun with the tablet! It's on my wishlist. One of these days...
Thanks! I thought that I would need to purchase a watermark, but it was so easy to do with your instructions. Thanks!
