Inside toilets RULE!

>> Tuesday, October 27, 2009

If you read my black widow spider post and were scared, I just wanted to add some more to it. I just found out from my mother-in-law that my husband's great grandfather DIED of a black widow spider bite! It was back in the days before inside toilets and going to relieve yourself was often a very hazardous situation with the snakes and spiders and scorpions and lack of soft toilet paper. So the last part (toilet paper) is a joke, but it was dangerous back in those days and quite a few people died from bites of venomous creatures that hid out in little dark buildings. These things just remind me how lucky we are to be alive now with inside toilets and Nutella and pacemakers and A/C.

And I see from the comments that many of you have faced these scary little spiders and you did it so bravely! My grandmother just told me that she finds them in her flowerbeds all of the time and she lives 10 minutes away, so why I haven't seen one before I haven't a clue. Lucky or just blind?

Why not name it like your description, pink haze? I love your actions and really appreciate you giving them to us. BTW - I'm very much afraid of spiders too. There are supposed to be brown recluse spiders in our area, but I've never seen any and hope it stays that way!

Sarah October 27, 2009 3:38 PM

Name for the action:
Tea Dyed or Tea Stained

Utahdoula October 27, 2009 3:40 PM

If you pick my name do I get a free copy of the action? Oh, wait, I get one anyway! YAY for Rita!

Laura October 27, 2009 3:53 PM

First...YIKES about your husband's great grandfather! At least now you know to keep an eye out for the little boogers :)

I'm not really good with things like this, but I'm gonna suggest {strawberry sundae}...sounds pink & yummy, just like this new action IS! Great job, again~Thanks!

I'll be back if I think of something else!

Pink Haze sounds good to me too, or Cotton Candy or Hazy dayz...
I'm so excited about the actions. I was gonna write to you guys and ask if her actions or YOURS for that matter could be made as .atn files and just extracted into the action folder instead of photo effects. There is an action player in PSE I wish I could use more often! :)
Can't wait, and Thanks again for all you do!

Lyndsey October 27, 2009 6:42 PM

What about pink lemonade?
And I am so excited for the PW actions! I enter the I heart faces contest every week and I am constantly told that people use PW actions for all their editing, and I have been so jealous. No longer thanks to you!

The Willits Family October 27, 2009 7:02 PM

I say "sun fade"
I could have wrote everything you said about the spider. I have a love hate thing for them too. Can't kill them...very afraid of black widows. I found them all the time in Montana. Now that I am in Montana I don't see them. Once when I worked at an office I pulled a box out from under my desk to find a very very large one living just inches from me(for months they thought) The exterminator said it was the biggest one he had ever seen. I too kept it in a jar for a long time. Funny how the things we fear are also the things that are amazed by.

Kim October 27, 2009 7:12 PM

Hi! First of all, I just want to say Thank You so much for all the actions! I absolutely love them and your blog!! In regards to naming your new action, what about flushed Veil? I am not very good at this, but thought I would toss it out there for you!

Frosty windowpane

Shauna October 27, 2009 9:44 PM

So, I'm thinking that since this was created during the "black-widow turmoil" we associate this name with it.

How about:

Pink Hourglass (my favorite)
or
Pink Widow
or
Widow's Pink

Shay October 27, 2009 10:10 PM

susy October 28, 2009 5:45 AM

Mmm, vintage rose or strawberry milk, I don't know, I'm not that great with naming things.
what a horrible way to go, a spider bite must be so painful. One of my older brothers was bitten on the backside when he was camping once in a remote bush area by a redback spider (looks similar to a black widow, which we fortunately don't get here in Australia, we make up for it in other deadly snakes and spiders, lol)they had to take him by helicopter to the nearest hospital. He said it was worst pain he had ever experienced in his life not to mention really embarrasing.

Nicole Faby October 28, 2009 6:56 AM

Seeing as though it was created in breast cancer awareness month and the color is pink. Why not call it survivor haze or survivor pink or pink ribbon haze?

Jody October 28, 2009 6:59 AM

How about Powdered Haze.

I am thankful I do not live in Black Widow Spider land!

SuperDewa October 28, 2009 7:09 AM

I like pink haze too. This looks pretty on its own, but I'm thinking it would also be a great prep for using a texture.

Debbie October 28, 2009 7:13 AM

Rita, you and Erin rock!! I'm really looking forward to the PW conversion as well as your two new actions. Now I know I won't be getting any housework done....too busy with photos!! :)

As far as a name...I'm not really good at naming things, but I did see a couple in your comments I thought were nice....Rose Colored Glasses or Vintage Blush.

Kristie October 28, 2009 7:43 AM

White Zinfandel?? Because the color of pink can vary depending on the 'process'?????? :) I'm not an alcoholic or whine-o but this name just popped in my head! :)
I think it's beautiful and cannot wait for the actions!
Thanks so much!!!
And yes, we had a black widow not too long ago in our garage..!! ACK! That's where we keep our shoes many times....we are in Ga.

Shannon October 29, 2009 12:44 AM

Hmmmm... Here are my ideas:
-Faded Bubblegum
-Muted Strawberry
-Vintage Pretty in Pink

It looks like to me it has some yellow in it as well as the pink you mentioned- so my favorite idea is "Pink Lemonade" - or since it is muted you could call it "Watered Down Pink Lemonade" - but i didn't know if that would be too long! Anyways! I can't wait for the new Baby Powderroom!!! I some baby pictures that i am saving just to test it on! : ) Thank you girly! You're the best!
